Hi Kathy,
This time of the year the need for our extra support for those in need is easily overlooked but never more essential and appreciated.
Peter and Linda - indeed ..... Food banks depend on the Christmas food drives to re stock their shelves
I know how important food banks are, my wife voluteers at one. The need is growing, especially in this US economy. Thanks for doing your part and advertising this event.
Cal
Cal - there is always a need but it does seem to be growing
What a lovely sleigh! I think food drives are on everybody's mind this year. We did one in the neighborhood. The Boy Scouts are doing one, they're doing one at the office, literally everywhere. I used to think there is only so much one can give, but have decided now that it's better to give to the needy than to gift as much within the family.
Hi Kathy, as everyone else we have food drives around the holidays. Our postal system has a food drive a couple times a year also, just leave the canned goods near your mailbox. We also have grocery stores that donate day old bread and perishables to food kitchens, which in the past was thrown out. Do to the efforts of a local charity ,they contacted all the grocerey stores to donate day old goods.
I buy gift cards to local food stores and give them to the homeless people I see on the street, some are too proud to go to a "food kitchen". The only stipulation is no liquor or cigarettes.
At Christmas my condo building has a gift tree ,where we donate toys to children of needy families.
We also have a food basket year round to donate food and also thru the HOA we give hams, turkeys, potatoes and other food items. We all need to do our part to help those less fortunate.
May GOD BLESS THEM ALL.

Irene - Great to see that the food bank in your area is supported by campaigns year round ..... the need is not only at Christmas
